OUR STORY

"Behold, I am going to do something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert."

Isaiah 43:19

SHIFT MISSIONS

SHIFT Missions launched in 2019 through prayer and faithfully following the Lord. Founders Alicia and Will Mattern moved to Honduras for a period of time, and the Lord began showing them how they could best join Him in advancing His kingdom there.

In 2015, Alicia and Will Mattern began to feel a nudge on their hearts from the Lord.  He was doing a new work and He was calling the Matterns to be a part.  They began praying for 40 days for the Lord to reveal His calling for their family.  Shortly after ending their 40 days of prayer, the Matterns came home from church one Wednesday night to find a note on their door from someone wanting to purchase their home.  Completely trusting the Lord, they sold their home and moved to a new community which started their journey to eventually leave Mississippi and move their family to live among and serve the people of Honduras.  After their first week in Honduras at a children's home in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on one of many vision trips leading up to their move, the Matterns felt as if a piece of their hearts never left.  God was planting seeds and a strong desire in their hearts to teach the people of Honduras who they are in Christ.

In  2019, SHIFT Missions was officially founded and work began focused in the country of Honduras.  We are followers of Jesus Christ who are dedicated to living our lives grounded on the firm foundation of the gospel and the truth that our lives are better when we consider the helpless. We desire to see forgotten peoples through the eyes of Jesus - the needy, the disabled, the widows and orphans - and meet them in the middle of their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.  Our primary goal is to serve those in need through college scholarships  and mentorship programs.

"How blessed is he who considers the helpless; the LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble." Psalm 41:1
